Liberal permissive sexual values pervade contemporary popular culture, arts and entertainment. With the advent of the Internet, social media and the ubiquitous mobile phones, these elements inevitably enter our children’s sphere of attention and influence. As Muslim parents, how do we counter the lure of these alternative sexual values, norms and behaviours? How can we react to the ongoing onslaught of seductive images and ideas presented to our young? How do we shield them from these influences? Or is there another way to handle this issue?

Through this talk, this marital counsellor and sex educator team, will share their understanding of the traditional Islamic framework which does not shield but instead prepare our children to address these alternative sexual values, norms and behaviours. A life-time sexual parenting strategy would inculcate sexual safety in our children’s childhood, sexual propriety in their youth and sexual bliss in their married life.

A half-hour lecture will be followed by 1 ½ hour “No-holds-barred” Q&A supported by Amirah Zaky, a London-based sex-educator. She will provide a local perspective to the issues and potential follow-up sex-related counselling service to whomever might need it.
