COUPLE INTIMACY | The Prophetic Way

  Friday, 18 July 2025
  Greater London
  Rumi's Cave

Description

Despite the Quranic ideal of sexual intimacy as a source of “tranquillity, love and mercy” (Quran 30:21), many Muslim couples see sex as a source of tension, conflict and irritation. In their three decades experience as marital counsellors and sex educators, Enon Mansor and Osman Sidek have seen how wives tend to lose interest in an activity they don’t enjoy anymore even as husbands remain as demanding as ever over their supposed absolute rights for sex.

This talk seeks to illuminate on the underlying reason for this sexual perception mismatch, namely the selective emphasis on certain types of sexual hadiths prevalent in many Muslim communities. Ultimately, the talk aims to use the sexual-sciences, sex-therapy ideas and their own sex-related marital counselling experience to spotlight a Prophetic insight on lovemaking that reconciles this perception mismatch and uplifts sex from its animalistic function to a truly human experience of sensual, emotional and spiritual bliss.

A half-hour interactive presentation will be followed by 1 ½ hour “No-holds-barred” Q&A supported by Amirah Zaky, a London-based sex-educator. She will provide a local perspective to the issues and potential follow-up sex-related counselling service to whomever might need it.
